Recommendations

Your work report can serve as a resource for your employer and for co-op students who might work with this employer in the future. This component of your work term report provides a good insight into your experience and will be helpful in further evaluating your experience and position.

Offer constructive suggestions to the employer about the co-op position, using concrete examples of answers to questions such as these:

  • What worked well for you in the position?
  • Which assignments were the most and least enjoyable?
  • What could be done or provided to improve the position or experience?

Offer recommendations to future students employed in your workplace, or in similar organizations:

  • Tips for the first couple of weeks
  • Things you would have done differently
  • Challenges that taught you skills or coping mechanisms
  • Things you really liked about the job
  • Any resources or websites that might be helpful

When providing constructive feedback, it’s important to remember your audience. Offer suggestions with a positive and professional tone, using concrete examples and solutions. This section should comprise two to three pages of your report.
