Applicants to Arts Co-op, Business and Economics Co-op, or Science Co-op:
If you apply to a co-op program requiring a minimum first-year grade point average (GPA) we will send you an email in August or September to let you know whether you are eligible for an interview.
If you have met the minimum GPA, we will schedule an interview for you. Most interviews are held in September, but some applicants to Business and Economics Co-op may be interviewed in early October.
If you are granted an interview, please bring two copies of your resume to the Co-op Office on the second floor at 192 King Street North at least 48 hours (two business days) before your interview.(There is no access to our office outside of business hours. If your interview is on a Monday, please make sure we receive your application by the previous Thursday. If your interview is on a Tuesday, please make sure we receive your resume by the previous Friday morning.)
The deadline for scheduling interviews for admission to Arts Co-op or Science Co-op was September 20, 2011. The deadline for scheduling interviews for admission to Business and Economics Co-op was September 26, 2011.
We will not accept resumes by email. If you are unable to bring your resume to the Co-op Office in person, you may send two copies by fax to 519.884.8829, two business days before your interview.
You are welcome to consult the interview guide provided by the Career Centre, but the department’s staff members will not provide personal assistance to students preparing for co-op admission interviews.
Your interview is your only opportunity to tell us about your experience in each of the four categories we consider: work experience from the beginning of grade 11 to the end of the summer before your second year; volunteer service and extracurricular activities from grade 11 to the end of Orientation Week before your second year; academic record in your first year at Laurier; performance during the interview.
When considering the information you provide in the interview about your work and volunteer & extracurricular activities, we consider what you did, the time commitment involved, and how you performed in the interview to provide this information. We rank those students most highly who are able to articulate leadership roles, positions of responsibility, and/or experience in an office or professional environment, while maintaining a consistent level of involvement and a full work record from grade 11 through the end of Orientation Week
