If you are thinking about applying to the Co-op Option at Laurier, you’ve come to the right place.

Check the admission process for your program. (Co-op is available only at the Waterloo campus.)

Undergraduate Arts, Business, Economics, Science students:

Co-op at Laurier is popular with students, and the admission process is competitive for limited-enrolment programs. Review information from an applicant information session to learn more.

  • We are now accepting applications for fall 2010 admission from full-time undergraduate students in honours arts, economics, science and business. Instructions on applying online.

  • The application deadline for these students is Monday of the second week of classes in their second year. We do not accept late applications. (In 2010, the application deadline is Monday, September 20.)

  • Applicants who meet the grade requirements for 2010 will be invited to an admission interview. (Applicants to Business and Economics Co-op will need an overall GPA of at least 8.0 in first year to be granted an admission interview.  Students must achieve the overall GPA requirement by September 20, 2010).

  • When making admission decisions, co-op co-ordinators consider applicants’ marks, recent work experience, recent volunteer and extracurricular activities, and performance in an interview.  More information about evaluation criteria.

  • Enrolment is limited; there are always many more applicants interviewed than there are spaces for co-op students. (For example, we receive applications from 500 to 600 Business and Economics students each year. We expect to make offers of admission to about 270 Business and Economics students in 2010.)

  • Undergraduate applicants will learn whether they will be offered admission in the fall term of their second year.

  • We accept students in second year only; you may not apply again in third year.

Double degree students:

Students in the double degree programs who will be registered in second year as of September 2010 will receive an e-mail inviting them to enrol in co-op. Instructions on enrolling online.

  • Students in the double degree programs in business administration and computing are offered automatic entry to co-op.

  • Participation in co-op is compulsory for students in the double degree programs where students take business at Laurier and math or computer science at the University of Waterloo.

Graduate students:

If you have any questions about graduate co-op program, please contact Laurie Lahn.

  • Students apply to the MBA Co-op and Master of Finance Co-op programs through the School of Business and Economics.

  • Students applying to the Master of Arts in Business Economics indicate whether they wish to be considered for the Co-op Option at the time of application.

International students:

Students on study permits may apply to and be admitted into co-op programs at Laurier. Please note, however, that we limit the number of spaces available to international students. The competition for admission to co-op is therefore particularly intense among international students.
