Planning
Know yourself, your preferences, needs, desires

After you have taken the time to assess yourself and identify your options, you are ready to begin making specific plans to begin your career.

Components for Decision Making
  • Gather and compile key information about your career options
  • Brainstorm and identify a number of ways your career plans can be achieved
  • Break down and analyze the realities of specific career paths of interest
  • Consider the impact of selecting a career path and what you are willing to sacrifice or not, invest or not, what is important to you (and those connected to you) and how you will achieve your career aspirations.

Sometimes selecting a career path, especially if you are considering a career change, involves being prepared to move laterally or even down before you can move up. If you are considering a change you do not always have to move quickly or make drastic changes. Look for opportunities in your current situation where you can explore and develop skills and potential career paths.
